Purpose

The purpose of St. John Noah's Ark is to offer the congregation and community a developmentally appropriate Christian educational program to prepare children for more formal education. Children will have the opportunity to grow spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially through developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning experiences. The programs are an extension of the home, and aid to the parents in teaching Christian knowledge, attitudes, and conduct.

Parent Participation

Parents are always welcome to observe a class. Volunteers are needed to assist in some activities. Parents are asked to provide a small healthy snack for the child's class.

Beliefs

We believe that responding to the needs of parents and children is an integral part of the mission and ministry of the congregation. In meeting those needs, programs are designed to involve congregational members, the community, the family and the child.

We believe that education and child care supplement to enhance the nurture already present in the home. The Parent is the primary teacher. Programs are developed to help support and encourage the parents in their role.

We believe that education and child care are significant opportunities we have for congregational ministry into the community.

We believe that "the young child is a gift from God." Psalm 127:3 and learns best about God's world through experimentation and exploration. Therefore, the early childhood program plans developmentally appropriate activities through child-centered, hands-on curriculum that values play as an avenue for learning. While learning is encouraged, it is never hurried. This learning occurs in a warm and loving Christ-centered environment where children can develop to their fullest potential.

We believe that each child is a unique and special child of God and we encourage their self esteem and individuality whereby children may find identity, purpose and power for their life in Christ by living in the knowledge of Him as their Lord and Savior.
